Don’t be so sure that you are immune to sudden poor health. Eating “right” (which is subjective) and exercising will not necessarily prevent you from getting dis-eases, such as cancer or heart disease, some of the number one killers.
I am not trying to instill fear in you. Fear, along with other strong emotions, will stagnate your energy, creating illness. I am educating you and inviting you into the mindset and practice of wellness and prevention.
Chinese Medical theory involves the concept of qi (“chee”), commonly thought of as energy, or life force. As long as qi is moving, you are less likely to get sick. Acupuncture and acutonics (tuning forks, please see the “acutonics” page on my website) move your qi.
Flow is good. Stagnation is not good. The 300+ acupuncture points on the body, access the 12+ meridians, or energy channels. If there is a dam in a river, the debris gets backed up and creates a clog, which can ripple effect into more problems, like the river overflowing, or dying vegetables from drought at the other end of the river. Your body has 12 main rivers of flowing energy. Stagnation (a dam) is created in this energy flow from many things, including general daily stress, strong emotions, fear, anger, guilt, lack of body movement, and poor nutrition.
But no matter how much you exercise and eat well, stagnation of some kind is inevitable, simply because, living is not without its frustrations and disappointments, big or small, for everyone, and sometimes back-breaking work which wears on the body, depleting our qi, often times without us completely noticing. The little tiny build ups of daily “stuff”, all of it, mental and physical work and output, absolutely create stagnation.
Visiting an acupuncturist once a month, and receiving a short, relaxing treatment, can move your qi, create energy flow, and prevent silent build up that can cause diseases.
Do you know someone that seemed to be the picture of health that suddenly came down with a disease or illness? I do. My dad. My whole life, he taught us about eating fruits and vegetables. Sometimes, he would call me and tell me what he ate for lunch, a banana, a peach, and some strawberries, perhaps. Then, during lunch break, he would walk to town from his office, maybe to do errands, or just to walk. He played on teams for soft ball and basketball for as long as I can remember. He was a long time member of the local theater group, and would play his accordian and tell jokes at hospitals and nursing homes. My dad was always in shape, healthy, and active.
Suddenly, at the age of 60, he was diagnosed with cancer. The aggressive western medical treatments, radiation and chemotherapy, took away his energy, and his ability to talk and eat by mouth. He lived by being fed liquid through a stomach tube the last 2 years of his life (at home, he could do it himself). His brain was still sharp, and he communicated through writing. It was a shock. A spirited man that appeared to be doing everything right for good health, fruits, vegetables, salmon, soy milk (more on that in future article, I do not recommend daily use of soy), exercise, you name it, with a sudden, stage 4 diagnosis. He would have been 63 in May 2009.
I absolutely know that there were energy blocks in his body that created his disease. That is part of the understanding of dis-ease vs. health, generally, energy blocks or not. It’s not just that simple, though; inherently, based on my knowledge of Chinese Medicine, other aspects were involved, such as what we call dampness or phlegm (more on that in future article). I also know that cancer is not possible in an alkaline environment (more on that in future article). There are many components that go into a person’s state of health or illness.
This article is to encourage all of us to simplify, stop, and take time for ourselves. A monthly acupuncture treatment can keep your qi moving and clear stagnation that could manifest itself into a disease or illness. Acupuncture is not widely used in this country yet. People simply are not exposed to its real benefits or the theories of Chinese Medicine that have helped cure people or prevent illness for about 4,000 years, around the globe. As more people get educated about it, acupuncture is certainly being understood and utilized more. I was glad to see a bit about acupuncture on the local news a few weeks ago.
I resolve to educate everyone I know about how they can, not only feel better right now from acupuncture, but how acupuncture can actually help prevent serious diseases. I will continue to add links to my website and information about Chinese Medical theories and practices, so that you can continue to learn, and ultimately, take control of your own daily and long term health.
